Brief description of role:

Vicky sets up equipment for all health care courses. She also sets up and runs all the simulations used in these courses, for example, she sets up medical emergency situations for paramedic students. Vicky is also self-taught in the art of special effects make up, something that she has recently supplemented by attending a certified course in special effects make up. She uses these skills to support practicals, for example but recreating make up on simulation mannequins and in simulation patient actors. Vicky runs simulation days, these can be on campus or off campus, for example recently students visited Sleaford fire station for a simulation! Alongside her technician role, Vicky also has some pastoral duties, interacting with undergraduate and postgraduate students alike. 

How long at Institution:

Vicky joined the University of Lincoln in 2017, and has been in her current role since 2018.

Previously Vicky worked in professional development in Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln. 

Things to love about the role/work:

Vicky loves everything about the role! 

Interests outside work:

Alongside her work, Vicky is completing a university supported Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship. Vicky also attended the THE Awards, in London, where she was nominated for “Technician of the Year”. An amazing achievement!
