Brief description of role:

Katie provides technical support to staff and students whilst ensuring academic staff have the resources and space to deliver practical lab sessions within the HPC. Other department responsibilities include: the day-to-day operation of the Human Performance Centre; maintaining and calibrating sport science equipment; supporting undergraduate and postgraduate practical activities and data collection; assisting with consultancy work and helping with research.  

Alongside the Sport Science Technician role, Katie is also involved in teaching Undergraduate SES Year 1 Fundamentals of Human Physiology laboratory sessions. 

How long at Institution:

Katie has been working at the University of Lincoln since 2017. 

Journey to role:

Katie completed her Undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Lincoln, and then went on to study a Masters in Sports Science before obtaining the role as Sport Science Technician within the final months of her MSc. 

Things to love about the role/ work:

Every day is different, lots of variety and interaction with a range of people. 

Advice to other technicians:

Take any opportunity to grow and develop. 

Interests outside work:

Food (cooking and eating!), exercising and baking.
