Vicky Forrest – THE Awards Interview

The evening before the awards night, I attended ‘THE Awards shortlist showcase’ which was an opportunity for those shortlisted to attend a drinks reception and network whilst being able to see the work that they do in their organisations. Everyone shortlisted was able to create an online portfolio of their work which was displayed throughout the showroom. It was really interesting, for my category in particular, to be able to see the scope of the title Technician and how many different roles within that title there are.

The next day at the THE Conference I attended three workshops, How to secure your university’s brand post-brexit, A conversation with Lord Willetts and Bill Rammell and A new perspective on the student experience. All were very interesting and it was a good opportunity to gain some insight in to what other universities are up to.

The evening of the awards was like another world I had not experienced before. It was all very glamorous and like a red carpet event, but it was also an incredible experience and one that I feel very lucky to have had. I will always feel very privileged to have been able to go and get to know my colleagues a little better and represent the University of Lincoln.

What I have taken from the experience is that I really enjoy being part of the Technician ‘community’ and how much a broad role it is. And next time I will definitely go for the win!
